Mi ha colpito solo una voltaPETER PUKLUSPeter Puklus, an invited author in residence in Castelfranco Veneto in 2022, casually discovers, among the spacious halls of Villa Bolasco, the existence of a large marble table in the dim kitchen space. He photographically penetrates the horizontal surface of the table, discovering minimal marks and almost invisible cuts, hidden memories and metaphors of a shining past that can help us shed light on our present. “During my extensive research on the NATURE theme, I discovered, by chance, the main kitchen of Villa Parco Bolasco. To my amazement, the kitchen boasted a colossal marble table measuring about 4×1.5 meters, adorned with a series of intricate markings engraved on its surface. Capturing minute and detailed images of every nuance and section of the table’s surface, I noticed that some of the scratches were so small as to be barely noticeable to the naked eye. Considering the grandeur of this kitchen, it is easy to imagine its historical role in hosting distinguished events, banquets and various gatherings for noble families over the centuries. One can almost imagine the lively atmosphere, children frolicking playfully, horses trotting in front of the window and the kitchen enveloped in steam, fire and exuberance. These are the marks and scratches we now observe. Although individually minimal, they possess a uniform size and direction, born of inevitable, energetic and repetitive action dedicated to a larger culinary purpose. Like a resolute foundation, these marks symbolize unwavering consistency and reliability.” (P.P.)
