Here it seems that the photography wants to tell not so much about the places themselves, but what makes it alive, first of all the light, the delicate light of the “first and last hours of the day,” which – as Mark Steinmetz reminds us – is the origin, the revelation, the transformation. “I made my work in the first and last hours of the day, concentrating my attention in the area that divides the city of Lecce from the sea, every day the scenarios were always the same and every day suddenly granted me something different, transfigured into reality. What came out of it is not a story, but something that does not lend faith to time, rather deceives it, as photography dictates. This set of photographs wants to try to bring the gaze toward a total drying of the image, deprived of its shareable nature given by references and relationships: to be at a precise moment in a place and yet to be nowhere.” (G.R.)
