The pedibus (walking bus) service was inaugurated in Castelfranco in 2014 on the joint initiative of the Environment Office and ULSS 2 – Marca Trevigiana.
The pedibus is an activity that involves primary school children and consists in organizing groups of pupils accompanied by adults to go to school on foot. It is a real “walking bus” with a fixed route and predetermined stops, where parents accompany children; from here, accompanied children travel, according to scheduled and safe itineraries, the journey to reach the school or home, thus managing to perform physical activity and to acquire gradual autonomy. Thanks to the precious collaboration of the parents and the accompanying volunteers, children are introduced to movement, integration, companionship, but also to road education.
Do not forget that the pedibus is also an ecological project as well as health, the twenty minutes of daily walk help to meet the advice given by the Ministry to improve our health.
Promoting walking to school is a way to make the city more livable, less polluted and dangerous, drastically reducing traffic around schools. So far 7 different pedibus lines have been launched in our territory.
