Works of workKARIN APOLLONIA MÜLLERKarin Apollonia Müller crosses the space of active and inactive companies of the territory of Castelfranco Veneto focusing his interest on soil matter. A surface that, stratifying and settling over time, identifies unexpected features expressed through shapes and imaginary dense with history and memory. “Plato regarded spiritual and contemplative leisure, not physical labour, as a basic condition for his “deliberate creative investigation with nature and society”. From ancient times until the Middle Ages, this was the principle to be applied: only one who avoids everyday effort and the compulsion to work will find time to satisfy his own needs and free his mind to attain new knowledge and a creative approach. This knowledge is comprehensible even today under the aspect that under pressure creativity gets lost. With this in mind I took photographs of traces of “work” left behind by workers and machines in factories that have closed down or that are still running. I used these traces as factors to be taken into account while creating new images.” (K.A.M.)
