The city of G. or rather GiorgionevilleFRANCESCA CIRILLIAs part of the artist residence BEAUTY Francesca Cirilli has collected images of the echo left by Giorgione, a painter originally from Castelfranco Veneto, returning them through the traces of a modern imagination. “He is a central figure in 16th century Venetian painting and art history in general, but the life and work of Giorgio da Castelfranco, better known as Giorgione, are shrouded in mystery. While research into his life and the attribution of many works to him is still in progress, there is no doubt that Giorgione actually existed and in some way or other he still does today. In Castelfranco, he exists in depictions, places and in a name. He has become an identity symbol, an historical and literary myth (and as such bears the burden of meanings that are attributed to him far from historical fact and sometimes incorrectly), and a hallmark. The figure of the artist and his works have spilled out from the art world Project realized as part of the artist residency “OMNE/BEAUTY”, Castelfranco Veneto 12th-19th October 2018 and 20th-28th January 2019, exhibited during OMNEFEST (Villa Parco Bolasco – University of Padua, 4th September – 1st November 2021) and published in the book “OMNE/BEAUTY 2018-2020” (Skinnerboox, Jesi 2021)
