OMNEFEST 2023

Now in its third edition in 2023, OMNEFEST is a biennial festival dedicated to the reading of the contemporary landscape through photography and the arts that stands out on the national and international scene for the originality of a proposal that is based exclusively on unpublished exhibitions promoted and produced by OMNE – North East Mobile Observatory. The theme on which the different exhibitions in the program focused was Nature, a term with which the photographers involved in the projects developed by OMNE in the two-year period 2021-23 were confronted.

The exhibitions previewed the outcomes of photo campaigns commissioned from internationally recognized authors such as Mark Steinmetz (USA) and Irina Rozovsky (RUS-USA), invited photographers such as Peter Puklus (UNG) and Massimo Sordi, as well as projects realized during the artist residencies by Marina Caneve, Daniele Cinciripini, Sebastian Collett (USA), Dieter Daemen (BEL), Giorgio di Noto, Arianna Sanesi, Luca Santini, Sasha Arutyunova (RUS-USA), Giammario Corsi, Odette England (AUS-GBR), Claudio Majorana, and Gabriele Rossi. The survey of the Nature theme was enriched by the Index Naturae exhibition, born from the dialogue with authors and publishers and conceived as an “Ephemeral Library” arranged to hold a valuable collection of photography books published in the last five years. Closing the exhibition were the projects of 60 young authors who, between 2021 and 2023, participated in workshops organized as part of the Nature project in Castelfranco Veneto, Lecce and at ISIA U in Urbino.

Two venues of excellence were chosen to host the events on the calendar: the Casa Giorgione Museum, known for guarding Giorgione’s famous “Frieze of Liberal and Mechanical Arts,” located in the heart of the city’s historic center, and the prestigious Villa Parco Bolasco of the University of Padua, which renews its collaboration with the OMNE project.

“Paradiso delle Arti e della Cultura” where ideas and arts, culture and science on the occasion of OMNEfest met the public, the halls of Villa Bolasco, as well as its park, from Sept. 22 to Oct. 29, 2023 hosted exhibitions, talks, performances guarding the high exercise of an art that renews itself through the idea of Nature. During the days of the festival, Villa Parco Bolasco renewed its vocation as a place for reflection, creation, and transmission of the arts, ready to welcome the best national and international contributions through photographic exhibitions, artist residencies, experimentations, walks, talks, and sound diffusions, and a new space dedicated to contemporary publishing, transforming the ancient stable into a real “Ephemeral Library” on the occasion of the festival.
